This is a 1913 work, set in the then current time. Mr. Clark is a wool merchant living on the east coast of America, he owns a sheep ranch in Idaho that he has never been to. The ranch has had a long history of great managers so no visit has been required. There is an occurrence and two different telegrams arrive, one saying all is well, the other suggesting that Mr. Clark might want to make a visit.

Mr. Clark and his teenage son Don, travel to Idaho and spend a year on the ranch. Over the course of the year, the two learn about the realities of sheep ranching both in history and current time (1913).

This is well written work, for young adults and a fun read for adults with a taste for the history of wool. There is a strong moral message at the root and the history is not dominate in the work, so the story plays out well without feeling educational.

The Story Of Wool Sara Ware Bassett 9781277105278 Books Reviews

A poorly written book. Written for children, it seems. I assume it was written as a essay for a college assignment. I wonder what grade it may have gotten.
The book provoked a lot of thought about who is making decisions for us and how they are made. With the state of politics today, I can see how leaders can get off track and make disastrous decisions that affect the world.
Even though this book was written some time ago (1913) it's a sweet little story of how wool is produced. Great young peoples read as well.
It's a fairly decent read, even considering I thought it would be more instructional. it screams of a heartfelt story good for early readers. My only difficulty in reading this story is the main character is supposed to a boy of 14, I was constantly reminding myself that he wasn't 9 or 10 , so eager he was. all in all a safe, easy and slightly informative story. )
Great read
